豊後梅（ぶんごうめ）

Bungo plum is considered a natural hybrid between plum and apricot. The fruit is large, weighing around 40–60g. It has thick flesh and a small seed. It is less acidic, making it suitable for raw consumption, though it is primarily processed into products such as pickled plums, plum wine, and jam. Compared to other plum varieties, Bungo plum blooms later.

特徴

豊後梅は、梅とアンズの自然交雑種と考えられています。 実は大きく、40～60gほどになります。 果肉が厚く、種が小さいのが特徴です。 酸味が少なく、生食もできますが、主に梅干しや梅酒、ジャムなどに加工されます。 豊後梅は、他の梅の品種に比べて開花時期が遅めです。
